SERENITY
SERENITY – Framed dimensions are 31.75” long x 25” high. Several years ago, my husband and I were in West Virginia driving home through the Potomac River Valley town of Petersburg. As we crossed the river outside of town, a doe was standing in the shallows of the north shore feeding on the underwater vegetation. She dipped her head all the way underwater and came up with a big mouthful of plant material, which she handily dispatched. The feeling of complete serenity was exactly the same as what I had experienced in Smoke Holes. We parked the car on the other side of the bridge and walked out on the bridge. The deer, who saw us and was initially alert for possible danger, soon relaxed and began feeding again. It was evident she felt secure. We watched and photographed her for some time. Thus, this painting, SERENITY, was born. Framed to strict museum conservation standards, this painting features a distressed cherry wood frame with hunter green suede top mat and soft brown inner mat.
