As March blows in, so do the migrations of tree swallows, sometimes hundreds in a flock, all still together after their long trek northward to summer breeding grounds. They stay together for a few days, feeding and resting and choosing their mates, before going their separate ways for their housekeeping chores of the summer. This little segment of a larger flock happened to be in a marsh in MD, but they nest everywhere they can find an empty hole in a tree or a bluebird box. Their amazingly iridescent blue/black is set off by a snowy white breast–the only swallow with a white breast. $99.00
