PRELUDE TO ICE – Lithograph edition – Just barely outside the town of Kilmarnock where I grew up, lies Norris Pond, like a little jewel fronting along Rt. 3.  Back in the day before refrigeration, Norris Pond supplied ice to the town.  The giant ice pit where ice was stored in sawdust over the summer months is still there, overgrown with small trees, in the woods.  When I was growing up, it was the premier ice skating spot in the winter.

PRELUDE TO ICE – Jean’s Limited Lithograph Edition Fine Art Print

PRELUDE TO ICE – Lithograph edition – image size:  18-1/2″ H x 29-1/2″ W.  Just barely outside the town of Kilmarnock where I grew up, lies Norris Pond, like a little jewel fronting along Rt. 3.  Back in the day before refrigeration, Norris Pond supplied ice to the town.  The giant ice pit where ice was stored in sawdust over the summer months is still there, overgrown with small trees, in the woods.  When I was growing up, it was the premier ice skating spot in the winter.  Deer, wood ducks, Canada geese, herons, beavers, all manner of deep forest song birds, such as scarlet tanagers, and much more wildlife could be found there, as well as incredibly beautiful wildflowers.  In the fall, its foliage display was magnificent, as seen here.  Several years ago, the growing town tapped into the pond as part of its water supply, and the water level has dropped below the level shown here.  $195.00 unframed
